PurposeThe Inside Our Schools category is designed to enable teachers and students to document learning activities in the classroom. This teacher-student collaboration will give viewers an opportunity to observe authentic learning activities taking place in the classroom. The project will demonstrate how teacher planning and student engagement are involved in effective learning.
Project GuidelinesThis teacher-planned and student-produced project should include the following elements: The project may include various types of media production within this framework.
AwardProjects submitted in this category that follow the guidelines above will be considered for an Inside Our Schools award. A cash prize of $300 will be awarded to the project selected as a first-place winner, along with the gratitude of AECT, your school, and your community. If the judges select a second-place winning project, $200 will be awarded. |

| Mrs. Harris’ 3rd-grade students wrote, filmed, edited, and starred in Our Prairie Garden (watch it here). This video shares an innovative, hands-on lesson that included preparing planting beds for an experiment with prairie plants and a year-long study of growth and propagation. This is an excellent example of an Inside Our Schools project. Congratulations to all who made this student production possible! |

| Brendan Michaelson was an 8th grader at Lora Batchelor Middle School in 2008. He produced a live action video entitled Educational Best Practices: Mock Trial (watch it here). This project showcases an outstanding learning opportunity for 8th-grade students in the form of a mock trial. Brendan’s sponsor was Jeff Rudkin, our 2007 Connelly Award winner. |
