- Inside Our Schools Award

Previous Recipients

Purpose

The Inside Our Schools category is designed to enable teachers and students to document learning activities in the classroom. This teacher-student collaboration will give viewers an opportunity to observe authentic learning activities taking place in the classroom. The project will demonstrate how teacher planning and student engagement are involved in effective learning.

Project Guidelines

This teacher-planned and student-produced project should include the following elements:

  • The introduction should clearly articulate the purpose of the unit or learning activity, which may include specific state standards and learning objectives for students. This section also should inform the viewer about the activities to follow.
  • The body of the project should show examples of actual activities in which students are engaged.
  • The final segment should include an evaluation and reflection on the unit or learning activity by the teacher(s) and the students.
  • The project may include various types of media production within this framework.

Award

Projects submitted in this category that follow the guidelines above will be considered for an Inside Our Schools award. A cash prize of $300 will be awarded to the project selected as a first-place winner, along with the gratitude of AECT, your school, and your community. If the judges select a second-place winning project, $200 will be awarded.
